Specializations and Research Interests

Primarily responsible for designing rugged analog electronics for satellite instruments for NASA-GSFC, JPL, JHU-APL, ESA, and ISAS (Japapn) sponsored contracts including: 

  • MSX-CEMS
  • Huygens-GCMS
  • Cassini-INMS
  • TOMS
  • Planet B-NMS
  • TIMED-TIDI
  • Rosetta-Rosina-DFMS
  • CONTOUR-NGIMS
  • MESSENGER-FIPS

 

Experience in designing and testing: 

  • switching low voltage power supplies utilizing pulse width modulation, pre-regulator, post-regulator, boost regulator, push-pull oscillator, and free running, resonant, modified Class C oscillator topology
  • High voltage power supplies (up to 15kV) for electrostatic deflection systems, ion-pumps, electron multipliers, and micro-chjannel plates
  • Custom magnetic devices (both low and high voltage)
  • Power switch and in-rush current control
  • Custom hybrid design and packaging
  • High efficiency power systems, and integrated structural electrical assemblies.

 

Other experience includes: 

  • printed circuit board design
  • Electronic subsystem integrtion and testing
  • High voltage insulator design
  • Custom high voltage connector design
  • Gamma ray radiation testing and analysis of elctronic parts
  • Integration and testing of electronic subsystem with flight sensor
  • EMI/EMC testing
  • Managing small ($300k) fabrication projects.
