Please note: You must be a current University of Michigan student to be admitted into the SGUS program.
Students interested in completing their undergraduate and master’s level education in five years have two uniquely designed AOSS programs to select from: Atmospheric Science and Space Engineering. In our increasingly technical world, master’s degrees are becoming the minimum accepted level of education in the our industry. Both AOSS SGUS programs offer breadth, depth and hands-on experience in the area you select and optimizes your career opportunities. The SGUS program can open doors that a BSE degree alone cannot.
SGUS students are allowed to "double count" nine credit hours for the two degrees, bachelor’s and master’s. Each degree is awarded upon completion of the requirements. Both programs require 128 total credits for the BSE plus 30 credits for the MS or 31 credits for the MEng degree. Nine credits may be double counted between the BSE and the MS or MEng. Please be sure to speak with an advisor as early as possible.
The AOSS SGUS program is designed to provide comprehensive knowledge of atmospheric/space science and the various components of each system and to increase your depth of knowledge beyond the bachelor degree level in an atmospheric or space related discipline.
Developed with Aerospace Engineering and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, the AOSS Space Engineering SGUS program teaches the systems approach to conceiving, designing, managing and operating complex space systems and provides you with practical experience in space system design, project development and management — the very combination of knowledge and skills that the space industry is looking for when hiring new engineers.
Please note: You must be a current University of Michigan student to be admitted to the SGUS program Application Process
Upon completion of your undergraduate degree requirements, you will need to apply for graduation to receive your BSE degree.
Please Note: During your senior year, a graduate application must be submitted to Rackham or the College by the required deadlines.
