In August, University of Michigan Professor Tamas Gombosi, Ph.D., D.Sc.., published his “Manifesto of a Space Scientist” in the American Geophysical Union’s invitation-only journal entitled Perspectives of Earth and Space Scientists.

The journal is a collection of memoirs, essays and insights by AGU fellows and other invited experts in their field, where the authors reflect on important scientific discoveries, advances, and events in Earth and space science. With support from the Gerstacker Foundation, Gombosi published his manifesto in Perspectives of Earth and Space Scientists, Volume 3, Issue 1.

Gombosi is the Rollin M. Gerstacker Professor of Engineering and the Konstantin I. Gringauz Distinguished University Professor of Space Science in the Department of Climate and Space Sciences and Engineering at the U-M College of Engineering. He was reappointed to an endowed professorship in July.
